We will be closed Monday, July 5th in observance of 4th of July! Film dropped off Friday will be processed on Tuesday or Wednesday. Please allow extra time for turn around next week!

Per Los Angeles County Heath Department, as of June 15th, masks are no longer required for vaccinated individuals. You may enter our business without a mask if you are fully vaccinated. We request that all un-vaccinated clients continue to wear a mask to keep our staff safe. We will now allow 2 people in the lobby at a time. Please plan ahead and have all Sprocket paperwork filled out ahead of time!

For over 100 years, Cinematographers and Media Makers worldwide have depended on The American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) for technology, technique and teaching of the craft. The ASC is an invitation only organization whose members are selected by their peers based on outstanding Cinematography accomplishments. Associate Members are individuals and businesses who have contributed to the technology of Cinematography. In 2020, Pro8mm's Phil and Rhonda Vigeant were given Associate Memberships in this prestigious society.

The ASC offers outstanding resources to the film community through their magazine (print or digital version), website, Master Classes, Mentorship Programs, Interviews with society members, and so much more. Shooting Super 8 with Pro8mm Rhonda CAM

🌟Filmmaker Spotlight 🌟

The talented @daviddibbleland has been at it again with his latest project! David has been shooting and mentoring @filmboyelliot shooting 16mm on his Bolex, for an upcoming documentary. As well as this retro ice cream truck piece with his Arriflex. David uses the Pro16mm Film Kit as a way to 'dry run' and audition or the upcoming shoot.

David says, "This was made as a test to see if my Arriflex 16 BL still works. Instead of a boring test, we made a fun little commercial on the spur of the moment. Kind of a dry run and audition for the upcoming shoot with the ice cream truck."

We couldn't be more proud of long time client, @_mattpayne_, who finished his Super 16mm Film, Weird Way Home. This project has been a labor of love for a few years- its so great to see it in its final edit. The film has been featured in Jenkem Magazine and Wasted Talent Magazine, both who rave about its artistic approach to skateboarding and a truly original piece.

Jenkem Magazine states, "Matt Payne was one of those who did it right, and he completely surprised us when he sent over this hybrid video part/lifestyle video of Tom Karangelov shot entirely on 16mm film. Unlike all the other 16mm fluff we see out there, this is actually filled with good, usable footage with amazingly vibrant colors and beautifully framed shots. Nothing digital here."

Matt says,"This project is completely self produced and independent. I shot this is a passion project because I really wanted to make a long form exclusively 16mm performance based piece in the skateboarding world away from the branded content world. Its also pretty hard to shoot difficult tricks on a 100ft load of film so that was a feat in itself."

Super 8 Anamorphic Production Test with Jonathan Hornby!

Super-8 is the king for creating nostalgia in camera, but I wanted to explore its capability as an anamorphic system for narrative productions with dialog. This video demonstrates the capability of the rig I built over the past two years with some amazing results! ​The 16mm B Roll you'll see, Jonathan is an Army videographer, working in the 82nd ABN DIV’s Public Affairs Office. After being tasked to shoot and edit a new command video that explores a 100+ year legacy, incorporating 16mm from his Cine-Kodak Model K to visualize this nuanced production was a must. The 16mm clips used have left-side sprockets exposed.
