The year has flown by! 2023 brought a record number of new clients trying their hand at analog filmmaking, with a particular boom in the Wedding Market. Thank you for allowing us to be the virtual wedding crashers! We have loved every frame of these special events. We were also here to support our friends affected by the writers and actors strikes, some who turned to working on their own independent projects as a source of income during these difficult months. We know you are looking forward to being back to work, and will always be here to support you.

Kodak Announces Official Release of their Super 8 Camera
We are so excited that Kodak’s Super 8 Camera has been released! It has been a long road as they beta tested several prototypes over 7 years before releasing the camera to the market. This is a huge boost for the Super 8 format. With a new camera comes an on going commitment from Kodak to support the format and the film!
We admire their determination to keep pushing forward, and wish them much success. CONGRATULATIONS! We have already been receiving inquiries from clients if we will offer C mount lenses and services for the new camera. We will keep you posted as we evaluate market needs.

2 Pro8mm Projects Nominated for Emmys
As the nominees for this years award season were announced we were so jazzed (but not surprised ) that two shows we worked on were nominated for Emmy awards!
Wow! Congratulations to Emmy Award nominee Todd Banhazl, Director of Photography, ASC, for another awesome season of Winning Time! Jammed packed with multi format shots this season really pushed the limits! The show purchased two Classic Pro Cameras and rented a third for Season 1, which were also used for Season 2.
Always wanting to try something new, Season 2 saw the addition of our anamorphic lens on the camera, and our prototype video assist. A shout out also goes to Justin Cameron, SOC, who shot the Super 8 footage! Fantastic Work.

This Amazon Prime limited series was a favorite! The production company purchased our Pro814 camera. We saw the Super 8 footage we processed and scanned in 4 of the 8 episodes, and even the camera itself makes a cameo! We love the use of the overscan which gave authenticity to the 1970’s rock era vibe. Congrats to the team behind this amazing show.

John Pfeil writes: Thanks for the great customer service and great products and services. I’ve had three rolls of Super 8mm that I purchased, processed, and scanned at Pro8mm. I used it to make an experimental architecture short that’s now playing at the Hollywood Theater inside the Portland Airport! I filmed it on a Canon 814 AZ with Pro8mm 250D and Pro8mm 2k scans.
Information about the mini-cinema and all the films playing is here:

This in from Mike Robbie: (Goat Hill Bistro) We certainly loved working with you and your team at Pro8mm and can’t wait for the next one!
Re-emerging independent artist and southern California-based songwriter Mike Robbie has released a delightfully analog, retro-inspired Super 8 film for his new single ‘Sideways’ via Goat Hill Distro. The project was directed remotely, edited and animated by Matt Newman, aka “Mount Emult” (previously of Look Park’s ‘Aeroplane’ music video), from back at his home base in western Massachusetts. Meanwhile, the Super 8 footage was shot in southern California by DP Justin Aguirre (Burbank, CA) shooting with a classic, modded Canon 1014 XL-S camera on Kodak Vision 3 color negative film, which was processed and digitally scanned by the team at Pro8mm. Sideways is shot in a 70’s-inspired cinema verite’ motif with all handheld shots, and features just a bit of performance ‘synch’ video, which was ironically shot down in Mexico during a holiday sabbatical. AMAZING WORK!
